Designing Brands: Velvet Glow

In the second project I conducted in Typography and Technology during my the fall semester of my sophomore year, I chose an audience to target in the design of a facial soap brand and logo. I created matrices to identify similarities and differences of current brands and see where holes lie that might warrant filling. By utilizing this design technique, I was able to develop design iterations that focused on solving a specific problem rather than just proposing something new that may be unappealing or unnecessary. The problem, in this case, designing for a group of people who aren’t typically targeted by facial soap brands. In this project, I learned the value of creating a matrix to aid my own process.
