In this assigned project, I took a photograph of myself and translated it into a portrait using cut tissue paper. Using the photograph as inspiration, I determined the colors for various parts of the image to create a dynamic composition. Next, I cut and pasted them accordingly using matte medium. I aimed to create a self-portrait that was different from the photo-realistic approaches my peers took, while also making something that captivated viewers. I learned the importance of setting my goals for my projects.
