Project Brief
For this project you will be deliberate about the outside influences. You will go out and find existing works of graphic design, you will document and record them as properly as needed for your process and you will remix them into something new.
For my second studio project while studying abroad in Prague, I pulled visual assets from European print material—each of them serving a particular purpose and situated in different contexts. I chose these specific assets because of their strong recognition as prototypical visuals relative to where they appear and how they are used. I then remixed them as collages, which evolved into an innovative brand. Throughout this project, I investigated the characteristics of print media designed in different countries, and I embraced play and the iterative process as guides for the making of a graphic system. I also tapped into my artistic tendencies, letting go of preconceived steps sometimes associated with designing brands.
