In this self-defined project, I portrayed the difference between two words that are spelled the same but hold different meanings by creating paper pop-up books. I researched the art of pop-up books, analyzed the meaning of each word from a design perspective to create digital sketches in InDesign, built paper prototypes, and translated them into tangible paper pop-up books. I conducted this project to explore ways of using motion to convey meaning clearly. I learned that even when mechanical tasks feel new and overwhelming it is important to keep crafting to resolve small problems until I am pleased with the outcome.
